Rolling clouds form over a wetland prairie, one summer morning in southern Florida
How I Got the Shot: I often paddle my canoe through wet prairies. I launch my boat at dark and paddle to a location where I set up for a shot before sunrise. In this area, I cannot get out of my canoe as the mud is very soft and I can easily sink up to my knees! Instead, Once I find the right location, I station the canoe by wedging it between two 'stick-it' poles attached to either side of the boat. I then place the tripod in the shallow water next to the boat where it can stand firmly in the mud. I have to carefully choose where to set up for the shot, because once I am set up, it takes much effort to change locations. It is nothing like standing on ground where I can easily take a step with tripod in hand!
