How I Got the Shot: I often photograph wading birds from my canoe on Biscayne Bay, along the mangrove shoreline. Once in a location where I can get relatively close to the birds, I keep the boat stationary and move it only when necessary. If I am lucky, I can sit in the same location for an hour or two while birds wade nearby. But, quite often, I spend my time paddling from one spot to another as the birds move about. It can get tiring after awhile!
