How I Got the Shot: I spend many hours at a time photographing a great white egret rookery located on several small mangrove islands. To capture the nesting birds, I need a very long lens so that I can keep a distance and not disturb their activity. I station my boat so there is no movement and stay in that spot for hours at a time during early morning. I watch and wait for a shot like this one.
