How I Got the Shot: Along the Tamiami Trail (Highway 41), there is a nature trail that leads to a lookout tower. The tower platform stands about 20 feet above ground, overlooking a grassland wet prairie. At certain times of the year, the prairie fills with water and consequently, lots of birds. From the tower, the expansive view is amazingly beautiful, especially in the morning when the sun casts a golden light across the land. This is when I like to find 'birdscape' images. With tripod and a long lens attached to the camera, I look for a piece of the prairie where birds are wading and small mangroves stand out among the grasses to compose an image like this one.
